One of BYU WIC's amazing members!
Who am I?
I am a fourth-year PhD student studying organic chemistry in Dr. Steven Castle's lab.
What do you research?
Our lab focuses on methodology development and total synthesis of biologically active molecules. I am currently working on synthesizing Yaku'amide A, a natural peptide with potent anticancer activity.
Why did you start studying Yaku'amide A?
Due to the prevalence of cancer in my family, I find great satisfaction in my work — despite the failures that often accompany research.
What do you like to do outside the lab?
I am a hands-on person and love working in the lab. But in my spare time, you will most likely find me outside hiking, biking, or snowboarding with my dog.
